WE'RE BACK

There is a growing universal demand for “bottled water” and it is now a 100-billion-dollar US market. Our bottled water provenance dates back from 1900 until the 1950s. We harvest our water at Jaybird Springs, Dodge County Georgia from a borewell that taps into the natural limestone and sand filtered Upper Floridia aquifer encompassing Southern Georgia and Florida.
The average consumer does not know the differences in the myriad of brands of bottled water but does care that the water is free of contaminates, tastes good and is priced favorably. The source of the water is a matter of confusion, in particular the difference in “spring water” and “purified water” and whether it is sourced from an underground spring aquifer or is simply reprocessed “purified” municipal water labeled as “spring water”. Unfortunately, this is the case 25-40 % of the time.
THE LEGEND
Folklore tells us that a railroad logger working in this area severely cut his leg with no one to help him. A Jaybird prompted him to follow him to a nearby artesian natural spring where soaking his leg in the cold spring water stopped the hemorrhaging. Daily treatment in the spring miraculously allowed the leg to heal.
Henceforth, the therapeutic properties of the spring were extolled by many visitors worldwide who became guests of a spa resort built there for bathing and recreation. It became known as Jaybird Springs. A glass-bottled water business delivered good-tasting water to surrounding towns until 1957. The largest natural spring water swimming pool in Georgia was built here. The cool 68-degree water temperature of the spring offered a welcomed respite from the hot, humid summer climate of South Georgia. Aside from the purported but anecdotal therapeutic effects of the spring water we are bottling it again for its good taste

OUR WATER TASTES GOOD
Jaybird Springs water is minimally processed during the bottling process by filtration, ozone, and UV light to ensure microbial decontamination and to retain those minerals essential to the good taste of the water. There are no chemical or electrolyte additives. All the natural and essential minerals are retained just as measured in the Georgia spring water analysis of 1913. We feel that the microbial burden of our water source is low, allowing us to avoid the addition of reverse osmosis (RO) for decontamination.
RO is a nano-size particle filtering process that necessarily also strips minerals from the water. RO-treated water must have essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium added back.
The taste of water Is subjective but there are scientific studies by independent tasting panels that have predicted with a high degree of confidence whether a water will be good tasting. Those elements found to correlate with good-tasting water are alkaline pH, mild calcium and magnesium, and low total dissolved solids. Perceived freshness correlates positively with the calcium content.
Not surprising, Jaybird Spring water meets these criteria and has a clean natural taste. It has a favorable concentration of calcium and magnesium, a slightly alkaline pH of 8, and low total dissolved solids of 187mg/L.
